Dear Supporter and Friend of IBRRC,

As we spring into a new season, we’d like to update you on our efforts here at IBRRC.

Brown Pelican update: The pelican crisis in California has subsided as the heavy winter storms retreated before leaving its mark on this fragile population. Since January our bird centers have treated nearly 550 cold and starving pelicans. To date we’ve released about 325 back to the wild. We posted a new video report on our YouTube Channel that details the response we undertook and what we learned along the way. View it here

Keep the change: “Penny” a female domestic mallard cross was brought in with pennies stuck in her gastrointestinal tract. With great care, our vet and clinic staff performed surgery on the bird and removed 3 pennies that she had eaten. After she was nursed back to health she was placed last month in a great home on 5 acres with other ducks.  See our video report

Membership renewal: Each year we ask our supporters to renew their annual membership. You may have seen a reminder in your home mailbox this month. If you haven’t yet renewed, please take time to do drop a check in the mail or process it online You can also setup automatic monthly donations from $10 to $100. See how

As always, your monetary and volunteer support really makes a difference and for that we’re truly grateful.

Sincerely,

Jay signature
